What Is A Payline?

A payline is a line on a slot which includes a winning combination of symbols, usually three or more. Typically, a 5×4 slot will have 25, 30 or 50 paylines, but some slots offer up to 100 paylines, whether horizontal, vertically or diagonally across the reels.

How Can I See A Game’s Paylines?

Every game will have a paytable that can be viewed while in-play. You’ll be able to see the value of each winning combination as well as each individual payline on the reels.

Can I Play All Paylines Or Can I Choose?

Some slots, such as Book of Dead enable you to select how many paylines you want to play and are known as adjustable payline slots, but other games such as Vikings Go Berzerk are fixed, so you’ll automatically be playing for all possible combinations. We recommend always playing with the maximum number of paylines so you can get more frequent wins, you don’t miss a win and for more chances to hit the game’s bonus features.

Don’t forget though, every line is a separate bet, so if you wager €1 per payline and you have 10 paylines, you’re actually playing for €10 per spin.

Do All Games Pay Left To Right?

Most slot games pay left to right, but some games pay both ways and will always be specified on your game screen. Combining pays-both-ways greatly increases the number of paylines available, and these multiway slots can offer 100 paylines with up to 100,000 ways to win.

How To Play Paylines

When you open the game, check the game’s information and paytable carefully so that you understand how much you’ll be spending and how many winning combinations are possible. Then, choose your Coin amount, then you can adjust the number of Lines if the game allows. Try out a few combinations of coins and lines, at a bankroll you feel comfortable with, until you discover the strategy that works best for you.
