6 Wives, 1 King, 5,000x Wins

Play’n GO’s latest slot is going back in time to Tudor Britain. Meet Henry VIII and his six wives on this 5-reel, 20-payline slot as it’s time for a different type of battle, a battle of monarchs vs. marriage. It’s time for heads to roll and wins to tumble in!

Meet The Infamous King

In their latest slot, the game giant Play’n GO is tackling England’s most infamous king. And he’s not alone! As the famous rhyme goes, he’s hitting the reels with all six of his unfortunate wives. This high volatility slot has a great design, cartoonish characters, and three bonus features.

Using Henry as the central character of a slot game is actually a very fitting role as the king was famously known to love gambling and dice playing. Which of course leaves us wondering what His Majesty himself would think if he could travel in time and give the slot a spin!

In addition to the characteristic Play’n GO graphics, this slightly tongue-in-cheek slot can land you wins up to 5,000x your stake on every spin during the game’s free spins features, where you’ll be sure to cheer for the wives!

Three Features Fit For A King

The Royal Flush Feature

Just like the name of the game, the slot’s biggest feature is also a play on words, drawing directly from the best possible poker hand: The Royal Flush. This randomly triggered feature is simple. Once triggered on a random spin it will convert the low-paying symbols to the same symbol, for bigger wins!

When you get a Scatter on the first and last reel you get to pick one of the two Scatters to reveal which of the two remaining features you got:

The Free Spins Feature

Heads will roll as you choose which of the six unfortunate wives get to keep their heads in the Free Spins guillotine. On each spin, one of the guillotines will drop onto the reels. If a wife is visible either fully, or just the top half, she’ll loose her head and become a Wild for the rest of the Free Spins round!

This round keeps going until only one wife is left. If your chosen wife is the survivor, you’ll get an extra instant prize! The last wife then has one more spin to brave. You pick which reel the wife will be on and the guillotine will fall. If it falls on a different reel, she survives and the Free Spins feature ends. If it lands on the reel you picked, the final wife is beheaded and you trigger the Long Live The King feature.

Long Live The King Feature

In the final Battle Royal feature it’s all about the haunted British royal himself. This pick-and-click mini game sees you helping King Henry VIII collect the loot and escape the haunted dungeon without meeting his ghostly (former) wives.

Pick the chests to get instant cash prizes. After each pick, the ghost of one of the six wives will move over one row of chests. If Henry is in the way of the ghost, he dies and the feature ends. If not, it continues until you find the chest containing a key.

The key gives you a choice: Either escape the dungeon and collect a mystery Multiplier for your total winnings, or risk opening more chests for even more instant prizes until you’re caught by a ghost. But, then wins are not paid with any Multiplier.

Our Top Tip: Get out once you have the key! Especially if you entered the feature from the Free Spins feature, as wins from both the free spins and pick bonus features will be multiplied! If you enter from the base game, then the best strategy not to face the wives’ wrath, is escaping the dungeon after four chests.

So, What Do We Think Of The Tudors?

We’ve all binged the famous TV show based around the same dark history, so we couldn’t help but smile as we recognized the wives. All in all it’s a fun game that puts a macabre twist on Play’n GO’s characteristic colourful visuals. However, we know it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, and with the very high volatility (Play’n GO has marked it as a 10 out of 10) it might be more suited towards experienced high rollers than players who are just starting out. But still, with this in mind, we recommend giving it a spin, if only to greet the infamous ruler and his six brides.

Eight Facts About Henry VIII

1. His first wife, Katherine of Aragon, was married to Henry’s brother, Arthur, before marrying him.

2. Henry was the first British king ever to use the title of “His Majesty”.

3. Since they were the closest to him, Henry’s toilet attendants were considered the “most important servants” and were the envy of the court.

4. He was a bit of a hypochondriac and would “hide” and stay away if any of his wives were ever sick.

5. Though he had many wives, wife number three, Jane Seymour, was rumoured to be his favourite. She was the only one that had a queen’s burial and King Henry VIII was buried next to her after his death.

6. His marriage to Anne of Cleaves was the shortest of the six, lasting only six months and three days! Anne was lucky however, as she got to keep her head and the marriage ended in annulment.

7. On the other side of the coin, his longest marriage was to his first wife, Katherine of Aragon, which lasted for nearly 24 years. That’s more than the other five combined as they were less than 10 years in total!

8. King Henry VIII isn’t just famous for changing his wives so often. He is also the most vicious king in British history, sending more men and women to their deaths than any other monarch!
